A new start

Finally I can release my new Blog. I did not really need a new blog, but I saw this as an experiment. I created my entire blog with HTML5 and CSS3.

First of all it was time to update the frameworks I used to work with. There is a new version of CakePHP 1.3 released and I was far behind the new jQuery update, including the jQuery UI plugin. For my work I always need to be up-to-date, and the best way to learn new updates, is to try them myself.

I’m a web-software-architect and programmer and I’m not a designer. For my own personal interest I was really curious about the new HTML5 and CSS3 people were talking about all the time. I can announce with proud that I made my blog completely myself with HTML5 and CSS3!

In an article about HTML 5 I read about the ‘52framework’ and I was quite interested. I started to play with the HTML5 en CSS3 features and this blog is the result of all this. A real CSS or HTML programmer might have several critical comments on my code, but I’m happy with it and all the things I learned.

Of course I realize Internet Explorer users cannot really visit my blog, but personally, I don't really care about the Internet Explorer users. But good news for them; I recently tried a preview of the new Internet Explorer 9 which is quite promising. I hope everyone will update as soon as possible the browser will be launched.

In the meanwhile I discovered the extensions possibility of Google Chrome, worlds best browser I know. I started some expiriments and I really like the way developers can make extensions for Chrome. So I'm working on a few extensions now, I will release them soon.

I also recently bought a Streaming Media device, the Popcorn A-200. Now I can see all my video content on a nice machine without connecting my computer to the TV all the time. It got a built-in NZB and Torrent downloader and I can use some online services. I played around with the developer posibilities, which I will also release soon on my website.

I'm also working on several CakePHP projects. For my work we recently moved from Kerio Mailserver to Google Apps. I really like Google Apps and see great opportunities for developers and businesses. At the moment I work on a Google Calendar integration with CakePHP. I will try to release them soon, so keep an eye on my blog.

I hope you like my new blog, feel free to give your opinion about the new design.
