Why is it hard to scale a database, in layman’s terms?
One of the best questions/answers I saw recently on Quora – explanation of database scaling issues in an ELI5 manner.
We’re asked by our potential clients quite often about scaling of services they want to build  - scaling the database is one of the issues and the Quora thread shows nicely how there’s no simple answer to that question.
